Dear M. Congratulations on giving birth. I hope you and your baby are healthy and well. You've been through an enormous change. Change can trigger an eating disorder. Your body, your mind, your emotions, your sleep patterns, your daily schedule are different. The presence of this new life in your life and a sense of new your new and profound responsibilities can feel overwhelming. Even tremendous waves of love for your child and gratitude that this child is in your life changes your old way of being in the world. Plus your husband is working six days a week. How on your own are you? Do you have family and/or friends that can be with you now? You need support. You need loving, trustworthy support. Do you have it? If you don't you will go to what has supported you in the past when you didn't know how to care for yourself, and that would be the old eating disorder behaviors. Please write again and let's see if we can come up with a plan to help you get the people support you need. You need people, not the eating disorder. Be brave. And what about telephone appointments with your therapist? Is that possible. warm regards, Joanna
