Healing Wisdom

"Without memory there is no healing. Without forgiveness there is no future." Archbishop Desmond Tutu.

I would add that the missing sentence in the middle covers the journey, the second act of a three act play where challenges are faced, where what is denied is exposed, and where courage brings you to your genuine truth and ability to trust and love - in other words, where the real work gets done.

Challenge: Bearing emotions that come up when eating disorder behaviors are limited.

Denial Exposed: Staying with those feelings and not running to eating disorder behaviors eventually will awaken or loosen secrets you've kept well hidden or didn't even know you had.

Courage:  Move through you day meeting ordinary tasks while feeling your emotional challenge and knowing what you had previously denied.

In time you discover the truth of you is finer than you thought and that with your new sense of yourself you can trust trustworthy people and love.

With this strength and healing comes your natural power and gratitude that allows you to forgive and be free.

(My blog posts will be short as I work on writing my eating disorder recovery book.  And my blog posts will probably be inspired by the work I am doing on my book - as is this one.

Dear PTC,

Glad you found the new site and registered.

Yes, exposing denial is very tough. But who said recovery was easy? This is why committment and dedication are necessary for meaningful progress.

warm regards,

What if you're not ready to make a committment. Honestly, I have no desire to gain any weight, not even a pound so I don't think I have any chance of getting anywhere with this whole recovery thing.
